Mortal causes

It is August in Edinburg and the Festival is in full swing, a brutally tortured body is discovered in one of the city's subterranean streets with marks that cause Inspector John Rebus to suspect the involvement of sectarian activists. When the victim turns out to be a notorious gangster's son, Rebus realizes the volitile situation could erupt at any time.
