Studio portrait of Josephine and John Forest taken in 1912. They lived in Red Cliff and Gilman until Mr. Forest retired from mining. They were then owners of the Forest Hotel in Eagle, Colorado, from 1918 into the 1930s.

For a time he managed a store at Erie before coming to Western Colorado and entered the mercantile business at Palisade with the J. W. Hugus Co.
