Kluge was a partner with Thomas E. Lewis in the Lewis & Kluge mercantile at Eagle. Together with Mr. Lewis and Robert McHatton, Kluge also owned the Gypsum Mercantile Co. store at Gypsum. Lewis bought out Kluge's interest in the Eagle store.

Lewis Building at 246 Broadway in Eagle. Built in 1912 by the Dice brothers, the First National Bank of Eagle occupied the single story part of the building. The first floor of the two-story section was the Hugus Mercantile Store until the Lewis family took it over as a very successful general store. After that business closed in 1975, the bank took over the first floor.
On the second floor was the Masonic Hall and movie theatre.

Isabel and Louis Nesthouse standing at Brush Creek. [Taken during same outing as 2012.005.033.] Isabel was born in Red Cliff in 1907 and graduated from Eagle High School. She graduated from Greeley Teachers' College and taught school in Aspen and Eagle. She married Louis Nesthouse of Gilman in 1936.
