Looking upstream from top of embankment at sta. 1+00. The slope at left foreground is ready for riprap. Note shoulder at right where riprap abuts the road ramp constructed by the contractor, which will be left to form a blanket at the left abutment.
Looking along upstream slope of dam from station 2+00 toward right abutment . Some hand placing is being done, to bring the riprap to grade. Note stockpile of riprap along crest of dam for use after parapet wall is placed.
Looking downstream in river section from point on waste pipe on right side of river. End of left half of the permanent cofferdam is seen back of the tripod. Refer to Pine R - 83.
Looking downstream in river section from point on waste pipe on right side of river. Foundation for a portion of the cofferdam is seen at extreme left.
View from opposite station 16+00 looking toward left abutment. The partially excavated secondary cut-off trench is seen in the distance. The primary cut-off trench is in the middle background.
Looking along the upstream face of the permanent cofferdam toward the right abutment. The trucks and Le Tourneaus are on top of the temporary cofferdam, wasting sand from embankment stripping to fill the spade between the two dams.
Looking toward left abutment along alignment of secondary cut-off trench from axis station 16+00. The trench has been refilled with compacted embankment in foreground.
Placing the 12-inch diameter sewer-pipe toe drain. The boards were used to gauge the 6 inches of 3/4-inch to 1.5-inch gravel required to be placed about the pipe. The remainder of the trench was filled with small cobbles.
Material seen in foreground shows the type of material that is being placed in the 18-inch filter blanket at downstream toe of dam. Cobbles are in the cobble-fill section.
Looking at downstream slope of embankment from a point in the old river channel about 600 ft. downstream from axis. Slope near the crest of the dam has not been graded. Note piezometer well cover at station 11+75 in center of picture.
