Photograph of the narrow gauge railroad crossing the Animas River near Silverton, high in the rugged San Juan Mountains of Southwest Colorado. The 90-mile round trip from Durango is made daily in the tourist season.
Only a coat of paint has been added to change the atmosphere of this old bar (the Bent Elbow) famous in the early 1880's as one of Blair Street's liveliest spots. Remnants of its glorious past serve to make this a favorite attraction to Summer visitors.
This real photo postcard is of a horse drawn parade float, with boys playing flutes and drums following behind. The float is advertising "Cliffords' bakery, grocery, tobacco, etc." American flags are present--possibly a 4th of July celebration.
