In McCoy Memoirs, p. 10, there is the same shot only with F. W. Ambos included and Harry Groh taking the picture. According to John Ambos, "In the early years of the 1900's deer were not plentiful in the McCoy area."

Hans Larsen stands with the family dog, Jack, with a gun and a pipe in his mouth. Larsen fashioned his own belt for carrying ducks while hunting and has 8 around his waist. There is a milk can in the background with the fenceline and a building.
