This group of men in downtown Salida may have been members of the traveling troupe Uncle Tom’s Cabin Company, which performed shows based on Stowe’s novel and traveled across the country in the early 20th century. The show featured jubilee dancers, Shetland ponies, military bands and cake walkers and generally ended with a street parade. This photo is taken on North F Street.

The cities of Colorado Springs and Aurora sponsored the development of a dam and reservoir that would provide each city with 37,000 acre feet (approximately twelve billion gallons) of water per year. Ultimately, the decision was up to communities using the water on the Western Slope. The project is detailed in two phases, both of which are available at the Eagle Public library and archives, and this map is included as part of those collections, respectively....

Image is of Pagosa Springs Ranger Station in August of 1937. The station has a peaked shingled roof and a porch. On the porch there are to men, one is standing to the left and the other is is siting on the front porch railing to the right. There are steps that lead down to a sidewalk. In the front lawn of the station there are two pine trees located to either side of the station. To the left there is a small sign that reads "please keep off the grass"....
