Damson founded the camp in 1934; it became WSC's great claim-to-fame in the next thirty years, attracting student musicians and famous conductors from around the country.

A close-up view of the central building (originally "Central Hall") of Taylor Hall, 1938. The stairway and entry doors have been modified several times over the years. The conifer on the right was removed by 2001; most of the others were removed circa 2011 during the latest Taylor Hall renovation.
